Total immersion in water is a clear representation of spiritual happenings:

• an identification with the death and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6.1-14)
• a life washed clean and made presentable to God (Acts 22.16; 1 Peter 3.20+21)
• a life engulfed and affected at all points by the presence and power of God's Holy Spirit (Acts 2.38; 1 Corinthians 12.13)
• a life now being lived within the community of believers (1 Corinthians 12)

In common with other Baptist churches, we practice BELIEVERS BAPTISM - the baptism of people wo have made their own decision to accept the gift of new life which God offers to all people through Jesus.  They have come to believe that when Jesus died, he did what was needed for unholy people to be brought into a right relationship with the holy God - something which they could not do themselves
